Janne Hall, Ph.D., is a faculty member in Computer and Electrical Engineering at the FAMU-FSU
College of Engineering. Her research spans cybersecurity, digital twins, cyber-physical systems,
embedded systems, and engineering identity.
Dr. Hall's technical research focuses on securing critical infrastructure through high-fidelity digital
twin environments, virtual ICS/SCADA testbeds, and AI-driven cybersecurity analytics. Her work
explores adversarial threat modeling, industrial control system security, embedded communications,
anomaly detection and resilient cyber-physical architectures that support smart manufacturing,
smart cities and national infrastructure protection.
In engineering education, Dr. Hall investigates engineering identity formation, perception mapping,
student persistence and inclusive pedagogical frameworks. Her research examines how students develop a sense of belonging and capability within engineering environments and seeks to identify critical points where students disengage from engineering pathways. Through qualitative and mixed-methods approaches, she develops frameworks and interventions that support student confidence, persistence and success in engineering disciplines.
Prior to entering academia, Dr. Hall built an extensive professional career in telecommunications and
wireless systems engineering. She brings industry experience to her teaching and research through
the integration of real-world engineering challenges, cybersecurity applications, and hands-on
learning environments. Her work has been presented at national and international conferences and
reflects a commitment to advancing both engineering practice and engineering education
