Research Examples

Flexible ceramic thin film

Our flexible ceramic nanocomposites can be bent by fingers with fingertip pressure so that the two ends of the sample touch each other. After flexibility tests, the tensile strength and modulus of our flexible ceramic nanocomposites are not degraded.

Additive manufacturing of ceramic materials

The print material consists of a slurry of materials, but the main component is a polymer based ceramic. This material has a very low viscosity and may be cured by heat or by exposure to UV radiation. Applications for the print material are to use it to make ceramic composites. The polymer will also be mixed with a UV curing reagent in an effort to increase the curing time, and CNT (carbon nanotubes) will be introduced to enhance mechanical properties.
